Door cards guide, part 2: add the bridge in Xenia and set up your rooms

Sign in, add a lock bridge to get its one-time code, and set the building, floor and area of each room so the locks can find it.

This is part 2 of 6 of the Xenia door cards guide: 1. What you need and how it fits together · 2. Add the bridge in Xenia and set up your rooms · 3. Put the bridge on the hotel computer · 4. Connect the encoder · 5. Make room cards · 6. Special cards and the card register.

In this part the owner or general manager does two jobs in Xenia: add the bridge, which gives you a one-time code to use on the hotel computer, and tell each room where it is.

Add the bridge

  1. Sign in to Xenia as the owner or a general manager. In the menu choose Door locks.

  2. A hotel with no bridge shows No bridge yet. Choose Add a bridge.

  1. In Name, give the computer a name you will recognise, such as Front desk computer.

  2. Leave Lock system on Tengo. It says whose locks the encoder writes cards for. Pulmos and Rf are for RF locks, which are still being tested, so ask Xenia before choosing them.

  3. Choose Create the code.

Xenia shows the Enrolment code: twelve letters and numbers in three groups, such as W9YN-AFQ2-6CPU. Beside it are the steps to follow on the hotel computer.

Keep this window open, or write the code down, and go on to part 3. When you have finished part 3, this page will show the bridge as Online.

Tell Xenia where each room is

A lock finds a door by its address: building.floor.room, for example 1.1.101 for room 101 on floor 1 of building 1. The building and floor codes must be the same codes your locks were set up with. If they are different, a card is written but opens nothing. Ask your lock supplier or look at your desktop settings if you are not sure.

Buildings and floors

  1. In the menu choose Buildings and areas, then Add building.

  2. Enter the building's Name (for example Main wing) and its Code (for example 1). Choose Save.

  1. Under the building, choose Add floor. Enter the floor number as the locks know it (for example 1) and choose Save. Add each floor.

  2. If your hotel has areas that your locks use (such as a north wing or a pool), choose Add area and enter its name and code (for example N).

Put each room in its place

  1. In the menu choose Rooms. Next to a room, choose Edit.

  2. Choose the room's Building and Floor, and its Area if it has one. Choose Save.

  3. Do this for every room that guests stay in.
