This is part 2 of 3 of the Xenia bar guide: 1. Signing in and opening a tab · 2. Tickets, happy hour and getting paid · 3. The menu, stock and closing the bar.
The bar tickets
Open Kitchen and bar, choose The Lagoon Bar and then Bar at the top right. Each order sent from the order screen appears as a ticket, in one of three columns: New, Preparing and Ready.
A ticket shows the tab, a ticket number such as BAR-0001, how long ago it was sent and every drink on it. The printer icon prints it.
When you take the order on, choose Start. It moves to Preparing.
When the drinks are ready, choose Ready.
When they have reached the guest, choose Served.
Happy hour and other price rules
Open Price rules to see the time-based prices your manager has set, such as Happy hour, 20% off. Each one says where it applies (here The Lagoon Bar, the whole menu), on which days and between which times, and whether it is running now or Waiting.
You do not apply a happy hour yourself. Xenia applies it to a drink as you add it, so:
A drink added during happy hour gets the lower price. A drink added before or after does not.
Drinks already on a tab keep the price they were added at. A tab opened at 16:50 will not change price at 17:00.
If two rules run at once, the bigger discount applies, not both.
Split a tab
Tick the drinks that belong together on the tab, then choose New bill 2 in the bar that appears. The tab now shows Bill 1 and Bill 2, each with its own total and its own Take payment button.
Take payment
Choose Take payment. The total is shown at the top, and you pick how the guest is paying:
Cash: type the cash handed over, or leave it empty for the exact amount.
Card and Transfer: choose the method and confirm once the guest has paid.
Charge to room: find the guest by room number, name or bill number, choose them under Charge it to, and confirm. The drinks go onto their hotel bill and they pay at check-out.
