This is part 2 of 3 of the Xenia restaurant guide: 1. Signing in and taking an order · 2. The kitchen, the bill and getting paid · 3. The menu, stock and the end of your shift.
Part 1 got the order onto the table. This part follows it to the plate and then to the till.
The kitchen ticket
Open Kitchen and bar. Choose your outlet and then Kitchen. Every order sent from the order screen appears as a ticket, newest at the bottom, in one of three columns: New, Preparing and Ready.
Each ticket shows the table, a ticket number such as KIT-0004, how long ago it was sent, and every dish with its note. The printer icon prints it.
When the kitchen takes an order on, choose Start. It moves to Preparing.
When the dish is ready to leave the kitchen, choose Ready.
When the waiter has taken it to the table, choose Served.
Split the bill
Guests at one table often want to pay separately. On the order, tick the box beside each item that belongs together, then choose New bill 2 in the bar that appears ("1 selected, move to…"). The order now shows Bill 1 and Bill 2, each with its own total and its own Take payment button.
Take payment
Choose Take payment. The total is shown at the top, and you pick how the guest is paying:
Cash: type the cash handed over, or leave it empty for the exact amount.
Card and Transfer: choose the method and confirm the payment once the guest has paid.
Charge to room: for a guest staying at the hotel who wants it on their bill.
Charge it to a room
Choose Charge to room, then find the guest by room number, name or bill number and choose them under Charge it to. Choose Charge to room again to confirm. The meal is added to that guest's hotel bill, and they pay at check-out.
